WHAT IS BALANCED DOG TRAINING AND HOW IS THE TRAINING METHOD USED AT SWEETIES PERFECT PACK?
In the most simplest terms balanced dog training gives you the most options to teach your dog, no matter their history, behaviors, age or breed how to be a well-behaved member of the family.
There is no “right” or one way to train a dog because, just like us, every dog is different. Some respond quickly while others need more time. Dogs have different personalities, drives, likes and dislikes, energy levels and more. Owners & handlers have different physical restraints and desires on wanted vs unwanted behaviors from their dogs. Many of the training exercises here at Sweeties Perfect Pack, will involve play, food reinforcement, praise reinforcement and learning a marker system. We use a full spectrum of tools, and the use of the term "balanced" to indicate the proficiency and education for use of e collars, prongs, games, puzzles, etc. We believe that the use of many different tools allow dog training to be more accessible. It is our commitment to using the tools that make the most sense for the owner and the dog together, to achieve a strong bond and a well behaved dog.
We focus on teaching our clients how to read and understand their dogs throughout our training. To be able to teach this to clients, head trainer, Dawn has spent years and countless hours, receiving scientifically backed education, studying, practicing and understanding dog body language. Dogs do not think or process the same way we do. The structure of their brain defines evidence of this, yet they are still highly emotional and intelligent animals. First we teach our clients how to form a different, stronger bond with their dog so they can fully understand how to train. Teaching how to give your dog the skills to work through challenges, not just commands, benefits the dogs overall mental and physical health.
There is no magic in dog training. There is commitment, hard work, consistency and a keen sense of observation. There is also time, patience and persistence. When you spend the time to learn how to communicate effectively with your dog and better read their communication, problem behaviors improve and their overall general stability. Though we teach you the tools to achieve the bond and training desired, and be with you every step of the way, success is only attainable to owners that put in the time, work and effort.
